Thanks to all the parents, coaches and kids who braved the cold and marched in the 2016 Richmond Hill Santa Claus Parade! Despite the wet weather, we had a great turn out and both kids and parents proudly represented RHMSA during the 4km walk. We would like to give special thanks to Monica for organizing the event, Helen for bringing extra candle holders (Mike for drinking the pop) and for the Leblond / Bland girls who helped build our mini float. With all the support, the parade was a success! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thank You!

We were fortunate to have many amazing coaches this year. However, two individuals certainly stood out by coaching not one, not two but three teams in 2016. This dynamic duo coached the first ever U14 Girls Select team, led their U14 Girls House League team to win the championship game and brought their U12 Girls Select team to a provincial championship silver medal. RHMSA would like to congratulate James Bland & Monica Bland for another awesome summer of softball. Your positive attitude and dedication over many years have help create a fun and positive environment for our kids. RHMSA and the community of Richmond Hill are fortunate to have caring and committed coaches like you.

RHMSA would like to also sincerely thank the many amazing individuals who stepped up to coach this season. It’s because of your commitment and coaching skills that the kiddos of our community had a place to play ball this summer.

Thank you Wild Wings in King City for hosting our Annual Coaches Appreciation Dinner this year. The food was certainly fresh and delicious.

A HUGE congratulations to Richmond Hill Minor Softball Association after making its mark in August, at the OSSTA (Ontario Select Softball Tournament Association) Provincial Championships. With 18 teams competing from all over Ontario, the two U12 all-girls Select teams displayed much depth and talent. While the White Diamonds lost 3 close round robin matches in their debut U12 championships, the Green Extreme coached by James Bland and Monica Bland impressed with a 3-0 record and allowing only 2 runs on the first day of pool play to advance to the quarter finals. On day 2, the Green Extreme faced stronger teams but their solid pitching, impressive defence and strong batting brought the team to the championship game. Although they held the lead throughout the majority of the final game, they eventually gave up the gold to Brantford 9-8. Despite the loss, Richmond Hill took home the silver medal! Congratulations to the coaches, families, league and especially to the girls who achieved their goal this season by working hard, playing smart and following their dreams.
Your goal was to medal in every tournament and you did. Way to go girls!
